Myrna Haag is a businesswoman, wife, mother, social entrepreneur and world-class triathlete. She was ranked fourth in the 2004 United States Triathlon Age Group (45-50) National Championships and eleventh in the United States Triathlon Age Group World Championships. Myrna has worked in the health and fitness industry for over twenty years and sits on the boards of the Metropolitan YMCA in Tampa, Florida and the Ophelia Project of Tampa Bay. Myrna has been a fitness instructor, a personal trainer, a wellness and fitness program director, and the general manager of an award-winning athletic club. Currently, she is chairperson of her local YMCA's Activate America program, a grass roots initiative for creating healthier communities.
Myrna has accreditations from both the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the Kenneth Cooper Institute.
Myrna promotes a sensible and straightforward approach for attaining and keeping a healthy lifestyle. She believes that the human body tends naturally towards a healthy and energetic state when given proper nutrition and exercise. We enable this tendency when we equip ourselves with good information and strong daily support. Instead of blindly following the inflexible rules of some "program" or "system," we must understand the needs of our bodies on a more general level, then apply that understanding to our particular preferences and situation in life.
Through lectures, cooking demonstrations, and participation in community-based organizations Myrna has spread her healthy lifestyle message to thousands of people. She has begun to branch out even further with functional food products (see the Myrna Bar initiative with Tampa's Metropolitan Ministries), and a soon-to-be-announced product for healthy skin care.
