Are You Out of Balance?

MANY people are nutritionally out of balance without even knowing it. One of the most frustrating situations is being in the "starve and binge" cycle that comes from eating too much of one kind of food and not enough of another.

The trick is to nourish ourselves with small balanced portions of protein and fiber, make sure we are getting our daily requirement of essential fats, and avoid hydrogenated and trans-fats.

This is not as hard as it sounds and the good effects come almost immediately. There's nothing better than feeling well-fed, but still being able to lose extra pounds or maintaining a healthy weight. Exercise and good nutrition go together. The better we eat the more energy we have to move and challenge our bodies. But many of us find it hard to "go it alone." We need the positive reinforcement that only comes from sharing our journey with others. Reach out! You will find both people to help you and people you can help. That's really what this Website is all about.

print friendly format
1 Drink Water. Water is the ultimate cleanser. It hydrates cells for optimal health, enhances fat loss and is critical for athletic performance. Eliminate soft drinks. Soft drinks are "empty" calories that provide little nutritional value. They take calcium from bones, promote obesity and can lead to diabetes. More...
2 Eat Small Frequent Balanced Meals. Eating three to five small meals a day that are balanced with protein and fiber will promote fat loss, stabilize blood sugar, increase energy, and provide optimal athletic performance. Avoid infrequent large portions. Eating a few meals a day that consist of large portions will encourage fat storage, lower metabolism, cause blood sugar fluctuations, promote fatigue, and inhibit athletic performance. More...
3 Balance Protein and Fiber. Proteins contain the raw materials necessary to build all human cells. They also stabilize blood sugar. Fiber cleanses the bowel of toxic waste and helps eliminate unhealthy fats. No processed flours and sugars. Processed flours, sugars and syrups produce unhealthy acids that have been linked to diseases and promote obesity and diabetes. More...
4 Eat Essential Fats Essential fats regulate the cardiovascular system, the digestive process, brain function, as well as the reproductive, nervous and immune systems! No hydrogenated and trans fats. Hydrogenated and trans-fats inhibit the function of essential fats and contribute to their deficiency in the body. This condition has been linked to chronic disease. More...
5 Exercise Exercise increases metabolism, lowers the risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, increases circulation, and lowers the risk for obesity and related disease. It will increase energy and reduce fat. Don't be sedentary. Lack of exercise promotes a sluggish metabolism, increases the risk for obesity and cardiovascular related disease. More...
6 Build a Support Network. A support network that provides positive emotional energy can be a powerful force. Success depends on daily reinforcement from within and from without. Don't try to do it all yourself. Going it alone often leads to failure, no matter what your level of will power and self-commitment. No one achives success in isolation. More...
